Porsche panamera 4

For 2014, Porsche is giving its Panamera a mid-term face lift. Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: A manual transmission is no longer offered in the Panamera. The six-speed gearbox was previously available in rear-drive versions, but the writing had been on the wall, as few customers actually opted for the stick. And now to the good news; every Panamera—save for the not-for-America diesel model—gets more power.

The naturally aspirated, entry-level 3.6-liter V-6 gets 10 more horsepower, for a total of 310. The engine is Porsche’s own—essentially the 4.8-liter V-8 minus a cylinder from each bank—and it has nothing to do with the Volkswagen-designed 3.6-liter VR6 found in the Cayenne and a number of other VW Group models.
